Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday presented the Union Budget 2023 in Parliament. The priorities of the union budget 2023 are inclusive development, reaching the last mile, infrastructure and investment, unleashing the potential, green growth, youth, and the financial sector.
While announcing the budget, within the education sector, FM Sitharaman announced that to boost education for the trial students, the government will recruit 38,800 teachers for the 748 Eklavya schools, or
the modern residential schools serving 3.5 lakh tribal students. The government will do the recruitment process in the next three years.
Ekalavya Model Residential Schools or EMRS is one of the flagship interventions of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India. It was introduced in 1997-88. The main motive behind EMRS is to ensure that tribal students get access to quality education in the remote areas. They are set in States/UTs with grants under Article 275(1) of the constitution.
