The State government has appointed former Director General of Police (DGP) M Mahendar Reddy as chairman of the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) and five others as members. Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan approved the appointment of the former DGP and the State government issued orders to this effect on Thursday.

A 1986 batch IPS officer, Mahender Reddy had served as the DGP during the past BRS rule. He retired in December 2022. Along with the former DGP, other members, including Anita Rajendra



(retired IAS officer), retired Indian Postal Service Officer Amir Ullah Khan, Palavai Rajani Kumari, Narri Yadaiah and Y Ram Mohana Rao were appointed as members in the Commission.The Chairman and members will hold the office for a term of six years or till they attain 62 years, whichever is earlier, the government said in the order.

The appointment of the former DGP was necessitated following the resignation of former IAS officer B Janardhan Reddy as TSPSC chairman last month. A few other TSPSC members had also resigned.
