Hyderabad, January 06,2015 : Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is scheduled to take place from January 31 to February 1, 7 and 8 across all the centres in the country. The Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur will conduct the test. It has made significant changes to the scores and the examination pattern. From 2015, the scores obtained will be valid upto three years.
Last year, 8.89 lakh students appeared for the exam and this year, the number is expected to be more than 10 lakh.
The institution has also decided to discontinue the use of online virtual calculators. However, students can carry their own non-programmable calculators. This year, the entire test will be conducted online for all the 22 streams. Based on the score, candidates will be given admissions in the seven institutes of Indian Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Science.
The GATE score is also a gateway to Public Service Units (PSUs). This year, more than 20 PSUs are expected to issue recruitment notifications based on GATE scores. More number of government companies are expected to accept the scores for recruitment. With just a few weeks left for the examination, subject experts say that in order to save time, aspirants should have right approach for solving it easily.
