The State government has on Thursday sanctioned 1,133 posts in 81 government junior colleges and apart from hiking salaries for part-time lecturers.

Chief Minister K.Chandrashekhar Rao on Thursday approved 1,133 posts in these government junior colleges that were established after 2008. While these colleges were sanctioned by governments in erstwhile Andhra Pradesh, no posts were granted as a result of which they were forced to hire services of contract junior lecturers.

In another key decision, the Chief Minister sanctioned 69 junior lecturer posts for self-finance courses in 21 sections being run in 15 Urdu medium government junior colleges. This would result in waiver of fee for the courses with the additional burden of Rs.1.86 crore being borne by the State.

The government also doubled the salaries of 63 part-time



junior lecturers who will now get Rs.21,600 for 72 periods per month at the rate of Rs.300 per period instead of the earlier rate of Rs.150 per period. Similarly, the salary for 52 part-time lab attenders was hiked from Rs.3,900 to Rs.7,800 per month.

Honorarium for about 11,839 employees working in Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) was also increased. While for 2690 part-time instructors in SSA, honorarium was hiked from Rs.6,000 to Rs.9,000, for cluster resource persons it was increased from Rs.11,400 to Rs.15,000 and for MIS co-ordinators, the hike is from Rs.13,000 to Rs.15,000.

In KGBVs, all the special officers’ salary has been hiked from Rs.21,000 to Rs.25,000 and for Contract Resource Teachers (CRT), the salary increased from Rs.15,000 to Rs.20,000.
