Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched a dedicated mobile app for the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme (PMIS) in New Delhi on Monday. The app aims to simplify the application process and provide real-time updates for candidates.

The Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme was announced in the Budget 2024-25 with a target of providing one crore internships in top 500 companies over five years. A pilot project was launched in October 2024, aiming to offer 1.25 lakh

internships to young job seekers.

The PMIS app comes with a simple interface, Aadhaar-based face authentication for easy registration, and instant alerts on new opportunities. Speaking at the launch, Sitharaman emphasised that this scheme will help bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry needs, increasing youth employability. She also encouraged industry participation to build a skilled workforce.

The Round II application deadline is on March 31.
