Unemployed youth and government job aspirants in Telangana State are in a dilemma due to overlapping schedules of Group – II and RRB recruitment examinations.
The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRB) on Thursday rescheduled the recruitment exams for junior engineer and other categories of posts on December 16, 17, and 18. This schedule clashes with the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) recruitment exam scheduled on December 15 and 16. Prior to the junior engineer exam, the recruitment test for RPF SI is scheduled for December 2, 3, 9, 12 and 13.
While the Group – II examination for 783 posts is conducted within Telangana State, the railway exam is held in various centres across the country, making rescheduling difficult.
As a result, several unemployed youth have called for rescheduling the Group – II examination, citing the conflicting schedules as a significant challenge.
“It is true that TGPSC notified the schedule before the RRB. Since RRB exam is conducted across the country, we request the TGPSC to consider deferring the Group – II exam to a different date, allowing us to appear for both the recruitment exams,” said Navaneeth, a
candidate who applied for both recruitment notifications.
Seconding with Navaneeth, another government job aspirant, Sathish Kumar pointed out that the RRB notification for junior engineers was issued after an eight year gap. “I applied for both RRB and Group – II exams. I chose posts in the Railway Bengaluru division, anticipating a lower cut off and higher chances of securing a job. I wrote a letter to RRB requesting not to accommodate my exam slot on December 16 but I haven’t received any reply till. Therefore, I urge the TGPSC to reschedule the examination at a later date,” Kumar added.
A total of 7,951 junior engineer, depot material superintendent and chemical & metallurgical assistant posts have been notified under different railway recruitment boards across the country. Of these, 590 posts, including 248 unreserved, 104 SC, 45 ST, 130 OBC and 63 EWS, are under the RRB Secunderabad.
