The Maharashtra government on June 24 have told the Bombay High Court that ICSE board cannot be permitted to conduct the remaining Class 10 and Class 12 board exams in July due to the current Coronavirus situation.

Further, the government said that it has also decided to not conduct its university exams for final year students in the state due to Covid-19 pandemic.

Advocate General Ashutosh Kumbhakoni told a division bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice S S Shinde that the State Disaster Management Committee, under the



chairmanship of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, held a meeting on Tuesday where it was decided not to permit the ICSE board to conduct its exams.

Mr. Kumbhakoni told the court that the state government cannot permit the conduct of ICSE exams from July 2, given the current pandemic situation.

The court on Monday directed the state government to clear its stand on the issue. Mr. Kumbhakoni told the court on Wednesday that the state government had similarly decided to not conduct the final year examinations in its university due to the ongoing pandemic.
