Students from the Indian Institute of Technology-Hyderabad (IIT-H) received 222 placement offers, including 30 international offers from 63 companies during Phase I of the campus placement between 1 and 6 December. The whole process was held online with students attending work. interviews of their respective homes across the country.
This year’s placement season started on a positive note with the 48 pre – placement presentations (PPOs), compared to 37 PPOs in the previous academic year. Phase II of placements will be held in January 2021.
The same trend continued in international offerings this year compared to last year. For the current placement year 2020-21, the institute has received 30 international offers from 8 companies from Japan and Taiwan. More international offers are expected during Phase II. For the 2019-20 placement year, IIT-H students received 38 international offers from 15 companies in 3 countries (Japan, USA and Taiwan).
More than 500 students have registered for placement in
departments this year. For phase I placements, a total of 116 companies registered, compared to 150 companies in phase I from 2019-20. A total of 244 companies registered in the past year, which included 15 new businesses.
A total of 206 students have already been placed at the end of phase I placements for the academic year 2020-21. This compares favorably with the total number of students placed during the entire previous academic year (2019-20), which was 295 students (including 37 PPOs). In the current placement year 2020-21, the leading institute for phase branches crossed more than 75 percent of the placement during phase I. Most of the offerings so far come from the IT / ITES sector, with few in the core sector.
In Phase I of campus placements, Dr Pradeep Yemula, Faculty Management (Placements), said: “We expected a slowdown due to the pandemic and have therefore strengthened our student teams to adapt to the changing scenario. We are pleased to see that the placement season at IIT-H started on a positive note. ”
