Sangareddy: Two discoveries of Chandra Shekhar Sharma, a faculty at Chemical Engineering Department in IIT-Hyderabad, and his students have won a gold and silver medal during the 2nd World Invention and Innovation Forum (WIIF) held at, Guangdong, China held during 23-25 November.

 The Faculty at Chemical Engineering Department said that their discovery on recycling Thermocol waste and making fabric out of it using the extract of orange peel as a solvent had won a gold medal. Telangana Today had published an article on this discovery recently.

Meanwhile, another invention by Sharma and



his team on ‘Electro spun Nano-fibers based sanitary napkins’ got silver medal at the WIIF.

Sharma along with his students Shital Yadav, Illa Mani Pujitha and Tulika Rastogi conducted research on ‘Electro spun based sanitary napkins’, while the faculty at Chemical Engineering Department and Shital Yadav together invented an environment friendly Thermocol (Polystyrene) recycling.

Sharma and his team have also set up a startup ‘Restyro Technologies Private Limited’ on the premises of IIT-Hyderabad and are expected to shortly launch recycling of Thermocol commercially.
