Anantapur: Yogi Vemana University is among the 14 HEIs chosen by Isro for an introductory-level online training course called Space Science and Technology Awareness Training (START) for post-graduate and final-year undergraduate students of physical sciences and technology.
The course focuses on a variety of Space science subjects such as instrumentation, aeronomy, heliophysics and the relationship between the Sun and the Earth. This is guided by Indian academic scholars using Isro resources.
Prof K Krishna Reddy, head of the Physics department of the university, is the
course coordinator. Applications from 78 students were accepted online. Among them, 32 received merit certificates after completion of the course that ISRO offered online from this university. The rest of the students received participation certificates.
On Monday, a success meet was held at Sir C.V. Raman Science Building at YVU campus and Prof Chinta Sudhakar, vice-chancellor, was the chief guest.
Dr Venkata Ramu and Dr M. Raghaveender, research scholars and students shared their experiences with the programme.
