Jamia Hamdard celebrated Constitution Day at its campus as per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, and University Grant Commission. Officers and staff of Jamia Hamdard led by Officiating Vice-Chancellor Prof MA Jafri read the preamble to the Constitution of India and pledged to uphold the spirit of the document which makes the largest democracy function.
At the very outset Prof. MA Jafri, the officiating Vice-Chancellor highlighted some of the important features of the Preamble of the Constitution of India and asserted the fact that “This day 71 years ago, we adopted our Constitution - a vibrant and living document. To abide by it shall be the best service too 'India that is Bharat' Today, let us all take a pledge to fulfill our fundamental duties for the progress of the nation”
Due to the Covid pandemic, the programme was available both online and offline. Students also participated in the
reading of the Preamble on-line.
Also, the School of Unani Medicine and Research organized a reading of the preamble to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution and to spread awareness which was led by Dr. Khursheed Ahmed Ansari DSW and Associate Professor, Jamia Hamdard. All teaching and non-teaching faculty of School of Unani Medical education (SUMER) and ANS, Resident doctors, house surgeons of Majeedia Unani Hospital, Nursing and supporting staff of Majeedia Unani Hospital participated and joined the live speech of pledge delivered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
As a part of the Constitution Day Celebrations, a documentary on the 'Making of Indian Constitution' was also broadcasted through social media channels of Jamia Hamdard inviting the participation of more than a thousand people. Besides, a quiz competition on the Constitution of India was also organized through the official social media platforms of Jamia Hamdard.
