A three-day online workshop for pre-primary and elementary level school teachers of Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) has commenced today. The workshop aims at equipping teachers in online teaching and assessment. The workshop is being organized by the Department of Educational Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia. More than 100 pre-primary and elementary level school teachers of different schools run by the university are participating and getting benefit from this training.
Prof Najma Akhtar, Vice-Chancellor, JMI stated that at present imparting education is undergoing an unprecedented change. Education’s age-old three Rs Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic are being joined by a fourth R: -'Rethink'. The question for us now is: How can we use technology to rethink education?
Keeping all these
facts in view it was felt that Jamia Millia Islamia should empower its teachers to continuously guide and nurture students during this difficult time.
Prof Aejaz Masih, Dean, Faculty of Education, JMI in his opening remark stated that in the present time, the ability of teachers to keep adapting and innovating will be crucial. New technologies are opening ways to transform practices in schools. Education is also moving away from “a teaching culture to a learning culture.” He expressed that the trained teachers will empower the students to learn for themselves both individually and in collectively.
Today sessions were conducted by Prof Indu Kumar ( CIET), Dr Rajesh Kumar (Principal DIET, Daryaganj), Prof Anupam Ahuja (NCERT) and also by Dr Kazim Naqvi ( Officiating Director , CIT, JMI).
