Officials said on Thursday that the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2023 saw an all-time high attendance of 95.8% in the January session.

On Wednesday, the test's January session came to an end; the April session of the test is set to take place next. There are 574 locations nationwide where the important exam was being administered.

Over 8.6 lakh students registered for Paper 1 (BE/BTech), while over 46,000 enrolled for Paper 2 (BArch), according to National Testing Agency (NTA) officials.

English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu were the 13 languages used to administer the test.

For admission to undergraduate engineering programmes at participating state governments,



NITs, IIITs, other centrally supported technical institutions, and institutions or universities, JEE Main is held. Additionally, it serves as an eligibility test for JEE (Advanced), which is held for IIT admission.

A total of 8,23,850 out of the 8,60,058 applicants who applied for Paper 1 (BE/BTech programmes) took the computer-based test.

Beginning on January 24, the test for the BE and BTech programmes were carried out for over six days.

On January 28, Paper 2 was held and 75.8% of students were present for the same.

Women make up 30.7% of the 9,06,523 candidates who have registered overall. Among the female candidates, 11.4% are from the EWS category, 37% are from the SC category, 9.1% are from the ST category, and 3.4% are from the OBC category.
