The government of Karnataka does not have any plans to shut down the colleges and schools in the state despite the recent spike in Covid-19 cases in several educational institutes. This news was confirmed by Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddiyurappa.
Apart from keeping the educational institutes in the state open despite the rapid spread of the virus, the chief minister has also ruled out any kind of lockdown in the state. He has states that the offline classes in institutes will continue as per schedule.
Chief Minister Yeddiyurappa conducted a meeting with Health Minister K Sudhakar, Revenue Minister R
Ashoka, and Education Minister Suresh Kumar to discuss the situation of the pandemic in the state and how to control the spread of the virus.
He has denied the closure of educational institutes, including schools and colleges, in the state for the time being but has stated that this decision will be reconsidered if the number of Covid-19 cases in the state keeps increasing in the next few days.
The government of Karnataka has given permission to educational institutes to conduct offline classes for students of classes 6 onwards so that they can cope with the academic loss caused by the Covid-19 lockdown last year.
