Amidst the prevailing cold weather in Kashmir, authorities declared on Saturday that schools across the valley will undergo a temporary closure lasting approximately three months, marking the commencement of the winter break.
The winter break for students up to class 8 is scheduled to commence on November 28, while students of classes 9 to 12 will begin their break on December 11. According to official statements, the break will be in effect for all students until February 29, 2024.
An order from the Directorate of School Education, Kashmir, mandates that all government and private schools in the Kashmir division will observe a winter vacation lasting approximately three
months.
The students up to class 8 will have a winter break from November 28 to February 29, 2024. Saturday marks the final working day of the season for these classes, as Monday is a national holiday in observance of Guru Nanak Jayanti, as stated in the order.
Further, students in classes 9 to 12 will experience their winter break from December 11 to February 29, 2024.
The order specifies that teachers are required to return to their respective schools on February 21 to prepare for upcoming examinations.
It further emphasises that teachers must be readily available upon request for online guidance to students during the vacation period.
