As many as 7,000 MBA and MCA convener seats have been cut down for the academic year 2017-18.About 23,358 convener seats including 21,281 MBA and 2,077 MCA in 292 university and private colleges were given permission this year as against close to 30,000 seats in over 300 colleges the last year.
Cut in the seats is attributed to the improper infrastructure, dearth of faculty members and number of admissions made by the private MBA and MCA colleges every year.On the other hand, the number of candidates seeking admissions into MBA and MCA courses was more in comparison with available seats.
Already over 32,000 candidates have participated in the certificate verification process, while the total number of seats were pegged at 23,358.
Even after two years into bifurcation of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh States,
the colleges in Telangana still seems to be on the favourite among Andhra Pradesh candidates. Over 310 candidates from Andhra University region and more than 165 from Sri Venkateswara University region of Andhra Pradesh State have attended the verification process and exercise their choice of web options for an allotment in a college.
The Technical Education Department has said that candidates from rank 1 to last can exercise their web options afresh or change options if desired till July 12 only.
As number of seats was less and candidates were more in number, the department has urged candidates to exercise as many web options possible so as to get allotment in a good college in the first phase itself.
The first phase seat allotment will be done on July 14.
