Amid Covid-19, the Mizoram government has decided to reopen schools for classes 10 and 12 from October 16. The decision has been taken taking into consideration that the state is seeing fewer cases each day, a School Education Department official said. With recent SOPs, the Centre has allowed states and union territories to reopen schools from October 15.
The decision to reopen schools was taken during a meeting chaired by Education Minister Lalchhandama Ralte during the day, in which officials of the department and
representatives of a church body, the Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA), student bodies, and other stakeholders took part.
All the school faculties and authorities need to follow the list of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the state government for the safe reopening of schools in the state of Mizoram amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
It has also been stated in the SOPs that only those students who have tested negative for Covid-19 will be allowed to attend classes in the schools.
