The Telangana Department of School Education (DSE) on Tuesday extended the last date for submission of online applications for admissions to the first-year intermediate courses in Telangana State Model Schools to May 28.

Students keen on getting admitted to these model schools or junior colleges, which have been established in 194 educationally backward mandals in the state, have to in their online applications via the http:telangana.cgg.gov .in website.

“Admission into intermediate first year shall be based on the marks or grades secured by the candidate in SSC or its equivalent exam,“ said G Kishan, commissioner and director of DSE.

These model schools follow the state syllabus and have Te lugu as the second language.“In the model schools, the



medium of instruction is English and no fee is collected from students. They will be provided with textbooks also free of cost. Also, all the junior colleges have adequate infrastructure in place, including libraries and science and computer laboratories,“ said Kishan, adding that the seats will be filled up as per reservation rules.

Of the 194 model schools, 126 have hostel facility for girls.The list of selected candidates will be made public by May 31 and classes for the next academic year will commence from June 1, 2017.

“The principal of model school in each mandal will take steps to admit selected students after verifying their certificates and will have to maintain admission and withdrawal register for schools,“ the commissioner said.
