As per the announcement made by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the college campuses in Mumbai will not be reopening from today, February 15, in view of the recent spike in Covid-19 cases in the area.
BMC has further communicated to Mumbai University that the decision regarding the reopening of colleges in the city will be taken on February 22, 2021. The government of Maharashtra had earlier decided to reopen the colleges in the state from today
onwards.
Mumbai University, in a notice, announced, “Colleges in Palghar and Raigad are set to re-open. However, Mumbai is being cautious about the reopening of colleges.” It further stated that the final decision regarding the same will be announced by February 22.
In view of the Covid-19 situation in the area, apart from Mumbai, colleges under Thane district which covers Thane (Urban and Rural), Navi Mumbai, Mira-Bhayander, Kalyan, and Ulhasnagar corporations will also not reopen from today.
