Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal on Friday talked about how the newly approved National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 will be able to transform India into a knowledge superpower and a global leader in learning as it links the past with the future.
While speaking at the 9th convocation of IIT Bhubaneswar through video conferencing, the education minister said that the new education policy, which was recently approved by the Centre, will pave the way for holistic and multidisciplinary education.
During his speech, he also said that scholars from across the world once travelled to India to study in the seats of learning at Nalanda and Takshila due to excellence in the country's education system.
"Armed with the New Education Policy, India will once again emerge
as a global leader in learning and a knowledge superpower as it connects our past with the future. Our diversity and ability to blend ancient and modern systems will again take us to the top," he said, as per PTI reports.
While speaking at the convocation ceremony, Ramesh Pokhriyal said that NEP will enable Indian students to grow and excel in all spheres of life and the country will emerge as a provider of employment and no longer remain a job seeker.
The minister further talked about the importance of linking India's talent with patents as it will play a significant role in the economic development of the country. The National Research Fund and the National Technological Forum will also boost the research and development environment and make it more inclusive, he said.
