The National Medical Council (NMC) has made a crucial announcement that could affect the educational prospects of more than 500 students across India. The NMC has declared all MBBS admissions conducted after the September 30 deadline as invalid, prompting concerns about the fate of these students.

The NMC has taken a stern stance on this matter, ordering the immediate discharge of students who were admitted to MBBS programmes after the cut-off date.

While the actual number of students who might be affected could surpass 500, it's essential to note that there are still numerous vacant MBBS seats available in both government-run and self-financing medical

colleges across the country.

This situation adds a layer of complexity to the issue, as there are opportunities for students to secure admission to these institutions. However, the exact figures regarding the vacant seats have not been officially released by the NMC or the state and central authorities.

The NMC's decision stems from its previous notice cautioning against conducting counselling sessions for MBBS admissions beyond the September 30 deadline. This warning seems to have gone unheeded in certain states, including Maharashtra, Bihar, and West Bengal, where both online and offline MBBS counselling was carried out past the prescribed cutoff date.
