From March 6 and 9, the Department of Pre-University Examinations is set to conduct the Karnataka I and II PUC exams 2023. Ahead of the examination, Education Minister B C Nagesh said that students must appear for the 2nd PUC examinations in their academic institution's uniform, starting March 9 i.e., students who wear hijab to the examination centres will not be allowed to appear for the PUC exams.

“Rules have to be followed. The educational institutions and the government are acting as per the set

rules,” Nagesh told the reporters.

As he told reporters at an event, students are supposed to write exams in uniform, and hijab does not count as uniform, so those who wear hijab and attend the exam centers will not be permitted to take the board exams.

There were some students who failed to attend the II PU examinations in the previous academic year due to hijab restrictions.

This year, the Karnataka 2nd PUC exam will be conducted from March 9, 2023 to March 29, 2023.
