Odisha government decided to reopen schools for classes 10 and 12 from January 8, strictly following the detailed SOP guidelines issued by the health and family welfare department and the special relief commissioner’s office for protection from Covid-19.
The decision was taken so that students could appear for the all-India competitive exams timely. It was also announced that hostels wouldn’t be reopening now and school buses would also not be available for students.
As per a senior official, parents could make their own arrangements to take their wards to school.
Only 25 students would be allowed to attend one class and each student would have a single seat like during examinations.
Classes would be held on Saturdays and Sundays as well.
Since the annual board exams are coming up soon, students of classes 10 and 12 would be given 100 days of classroom teaching before they appear for the annual exams in May.
Class 10 students will be attending classes from January 8 to April 26, while Class 12 students will be attending classes from January 8 to April 28, as per a notice released by the Odisha education department.
Practical exams for class 10 students would be held from April 27 to May 2, while for class 12 students, they will be held from May 15 to June 11.
The Odisha government has also reduced the board exam syllabus for 2021 by 30%, in line with CBSE’s decision.
