The Odisha state government has decided to introduce the New Education Policy (NEP) to the state's higher education system. Implementation began in the current academic year. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Mahji notified the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) about the NEP's introduction earlier this week. The NEP, featuring a new curriculum, will be rolled out in all

government universities and affiliated colleges under the Higher Education Department.

As per the new policy, a four-year graduation programme will replace the traditional three-year course. Under this structure, students can earn a certificate, diploma, degree, and honours degree upon completing each respective year of the four-year programme.
