Hyderabad: Osmania University students who opt for MS Chemistry, MS Computer Science, MA Communication and MBA will now get an opportunity of studying at the University of Missouri, St. Louis (UMSL), US.
This follows the decision of OU to offer dual degree courses in partnership with UMSL from June this year. To this effect, Prof. S Ramachandram, Vice-Chancellor, OU held video conference with UMSL?officials on Sunday to firm up the subjects that will be part of the programme.
The courses that will be offered include five year integrated MS Chemistry course wherein three years will be in OU and two years in UMSL and MS Computer Science-BTech which will be for five years i.e. four years in OU and one year in UMSL.
Similarly for MA Communication and MBA, one year course will be at OU and rest at
UMSL.
About 40 students, 10 each from the four courses will get an opportunity to study in Missouri University and the university is working on the modalities.
Prof. Ramachandram said students will be selected based on the merit and they will get subsidised tuition fee at UMSL.
“The new programmes will help students get international exposure. The OU alumni association has extended its support for the courses,” the OU VC said, adding that the varsity will explore the option of overseas scholarship extended by the State government to help students study abroad. The UMSL?intends to bring its courses in criminology and criminal justice and in optometry to OU.
According to the OU, the Deepak Vyas Foundation will partially fund students and is also keen on setting up an endowment fund.
