The Osmania University has decided to go in for biometric system for recording attendance.
The university wants the campus, all constituent and affiliated colleges to implement the biometric system from the next academic year. Already, the administration has installed biometric systems in the administrative building and University Commerce College on trial basis for recording attendance of faculty and non-teaching staff members.
S Ramachandram, Vice-Chancellor, Osmania University said that a circular through
university’s academic audit cell would be issued to all the colleges before going in for inspection for affiliation. The VC said at present, biometric was being used for faculty and non-teaching staff. This would be extended to all in the phased manner, he added.
According to OU officials, the biometric system would also be implemented at mess facilities in the campus hostels. The officials were of the view that implementing biometric would certainly crack down on non-boarders availing mess facility illegally.
