Osmania University is one among the three universities chosen by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science and Technology to run a one-year PG Diploma programme in Medical Biotechnology on Genetic Counselling to be executed by the Institute of Genetics and Hospital for Genetic diseases.
Close on the heels of being granted funds under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), the skill development programme would place special emphasis on Prenatal and Postnatal Diagnostics, according to a
press release.
The Director, Institute of Genetics and Hospital for Genetic Diseases, will be the full time course coordinator. Selection of students will be through a combined common entrance test for skill development in Biotechnology at the national level conducted by all participating universities/institutes.
The intake in each academic session will be 10 students per year and each student will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000.
