Hyderabad : The 36th Annual General Meeting of the Astronomical Society of India (ASI) will be inaugurated by Osmania University Vice-Chancellor Prof. S. Ramachandram at the IICT auditorium.

Announcing this at a press conference, ASI Secretary Prof. Dipankar Banerjee said that the  event to be held  from 5-9 February on Osmania University campus, will be attended by 400 scientists,  young faculty, researchers and students from across the



country and abroad. Also, 100 talks will be delivered on diverse topics related to Astronomy and also on current and future research.

As part of its outreach programme, the ASI had conducted an awareness/sensitization programme for Government school teachers. It has planned a career counseling session is to be organized at Aurora College on 7 February. The session aims to educate Science and Engineering students on career opportunities in Astronomy.
