In a record of sorts, 10,58,387 candidates have applied for the Village Revenue Officer (VRO) recruitment examination. This is for the first time that the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) has received such a huge number of applications. The largest number of applications prior to this was when 7,89,437 candidates registered for the recruitment examination to 1,032 vacancies of Group-II Services in various departments. Of these,
5.17 lakh had appeared in the test held in November 2016.
The highest number of applications received by the PSC before bifurcation was seven lakh. Addressing a press conference at the TSPSC office here on Wednesday, TSPSC secretary A Vani Prasad said the Commission had conducted several recruitment examinations so far, but 10,58,387 registrations, that too for the VRO post, were the highest so far.
