The Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme (PMIS) has been extended, giving aspiring candidates more time to benefit from this government-backed opportunity. Under PMIS, selected interns will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000 for a period of 12 months, along with a one-time grant of Rs 6,000.

Announced in the Union Budget 2024-25, the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme aims to provide one crore internship opportunities over five years to youth aged 21 to 24 years from economically weaker backgrounds. The pilot phase

of the programme, launched in October 2024, witnessed an enthusiastic response with over 6 lakh applications during the first round. Following this success, Round 2 of the pilot phase is now open.

Originally set to close on March 31, 2025, the application window has now been extended to April 15, 2025. As per updates from the official PMIS website, shortlisting and selections for some positions have already started from April 1. Applicants are encouraged to monitor their dashboard, phone, and email for alerts and next steps.
