Lucknow: President Ram Nath Kovind has said, the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 will prove instrumental in making today’s generation capable of fullfiling the needs and aspirations of the 21st century.
The President was addressing the 9th convocation of the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University in Lucknow last evening.
Mr Kovind said, the new education policy has been made with an aim to make the country an education superpower and is as per the requirements and demands of the 21st century.
Addressing the students, President Kovind said, education is most effective tool for social development and personal growth. He praised Uttar Pradesh Governor and Chief Minister for including the New Education Policy in higher education institutes of the states.
President Kovind said, he was hopeful that India would be a developed nation without social inequalities by 2047 when the country celebrates the centenary of Independence.
He appealed to the students to take the country to the newer heights, which was also a dream of Baba Saheb Ambedkar.
Mentioning the efforts made by women in nation- building, the President said, the efforts made by daughters of the country in Olympics have made all of us proud. He said, the everlasting dream of Babasaheb was women empowerment which seems to be coming
true
The President reached Lucknow yesterday on a four-day visit to Uttar Pradesh. During his visit, Mr Kovind will take part in various programmed scheduled in Lucknow, Gorakhpur and Ayodhya.
“On the second day of his visit to Uttar Pradesh President Ram nath kovind will grace the diamond jubilee celebrations of Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey Sainik School Lucknow as Chief guest. He will unveil a statue of Dr Sampurnanand, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and lay the foundation stone of the girls hostel in the school.
President Kovind will inaugurate a 1000-seater auditorium in remembrance of the former CM Sampurnanand, who was founder of the Sainik School in the year 1960. Captain Manoj Kumar Pandey Sainik School Lucknow holds unique distinction of being the first Sainik School in the country and also the only one to be governed by state government. Later in the evening President will also grace the 26th convocation of the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow.
Tomorrow the President will leave for Gorakhpur and after taking part in a function he will come back to Lucknow same day. On August 29, the President will visit Ayodhya by train from Lucknow where he will launch various projects related to the development of the city. The President will also visit the construction site of Shri Ram Temple and perform Pooja.
