President of India, Ram Nath Kovind who is presently on a 4-day visit to the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir since 25th of this month, today on the third day of his visit addressed the 19th Annual Convocation of the University of Kashmir in Srinagar yesterday.
The first lady of India Ms Savita Kovind was also present in the Convocation ceremony.
The Lietenant Governor of J&K Manoj Sinha who happens to be Chancellor of the University, his Advisors, Member Parliament Dr Farooq Abdullah ,Vice Chancellors of various Universities among others were present on the occasion.
President Ram Nath Kovind on his 3rd day visit of Jammu and Kashmir, today addressed the 19th Convocation of the University of Kashmir at Kashmir International Convention Centre (KICC) in Srinagar and awarded Gold Medals to ten students who
had passed out for various streams in the academic year 2020-21.
President Kovind began his speech at the Convocation ceremony in Kashmiri with a smile on his face and said, " MEI SAPAZ KHUSHI TOHI MEELITHH" which means that he felt glad to meet them, drawing applause from the audience including students.
Earlier, on the eve of 22nd anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, the scheduled visit Ram Nath Kovind to Drass was cancelled due to inclement weather conditions. He instead paid his tributes to the soldiers at "Daggers War Memorial" at Baramulla.
Mr. Kovind arrived at Srinagar on Sunday on his 4-day visit to J&K, was accorded Guard of Honour at the Technical Airport Srinagar. He is scheduled to return to national capital today.
