The Delhi government has issued an official order mandating that recognised private schools, which have been allotted land by the government, must obtain prior approval from the Directorate of Education (DoE) before implementing any fee hikes for the upcoming 2024-25 academic session.
According to the order, recognised private schools with the land allotted by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) cannot increase their fees without the explicit approval of the Directorate of Education.
They are required to adhere to the last approved fee structure or the fee statement they have filed. This directive is in alignment with Section 17 of the Delhi School Education Act and Rules (DSEAR), 1973, which prohibits private unaided schools from enhancing fees without prior sanction from the
Director of Education.
In light of this, all heads of schools and managers of such recognised private unaided schools are instructed to submit their proposals for fee increases for the academic session 2024-25 to the Director of Education online via the Directorate's website. The deadline for submission is set from April 1, 2024, to April 15, 2024. Any incomplete proposals will be rejected summarily.
The submitted proposals will undergo scrutiny by the Director or authorised officers. Schools failing to submit proposals are explicitly prohibited from increasing any fees until approval is granted by the Director of Education (DoE).
Any complaints regarding fee hikes without prior approval will be taken seriously and may result in legal action against the concerned school.
