Congress leader Rahul Gandhi took a dig at PM Narendra Modi over conducting NEET 2020 in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic. Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav also tweeted on the NEET issue calling the suicide of a NEET aspirant a day before the exam as “murder”.

NEET 2020 is being conducted today across various exam centres in India from 2 pm to 5 pm amidst various safety measures in place. Around 16 lakh students are appearing for the exams after two sets of revised SOPs were issued by the government for the conduction of NEET 2020 and other exams amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

The government went ahead with the JEE and NEET exams amidst the Covid-19 pandemic even after months of protests, and Supreme Court shot down petitions against the conduction of the exams, saying that students shouldn’t lose a year because of the coronavirus.

increased the number of exam centres from 2,546 to 3,843, and reduced the number of candidates per room from 24 to 12.

“My best wishes to the students appearing for NEET exam and my sympathies to those who couldn’t take it due to the Covid pandemic and floods. Wish Modi ji was as concerned about JEE-NEET aspirants & students as he is about his crony capitalist friends,” Rahul Gandhi tweeted, while wishing the NEET 2020 aspirants the very best for their exam.

Akhilesh Yadav hit at the government by mentioning the suicide of a, 18-year-old NEET aspirant in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, on Saturday.

"Every child-bearing family in the country is shocked by the news of suicide by a candidate from Madurai yesterday before the NEET examination. tribute! Heartless BJP should tell who is responsible for this. This is murder. Along with this, the slogan of 'Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao' has also been killed," he wrote on Twitter.
