Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal inaugurated the building of the School of Education, Faculty of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia(JMI) through a video conferencing platform on Monday, September 28, 2020. The building has been constructed through a grant provided under Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya National Mission on Teachers and Teaching(PMMMNMTT) Scheme of the Government of India.
Vice-Chancellor JMI Prof. Najma Akhtar formally welcomed the Chief Guest in the presence of Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments, Registrar AP Siddiqui (IPS), Controller of Examination Dr. Nazim H Jafri, teachers, and other staff members.
Speaking on the occasion Prof. Akhtar first thanked the Education Minister for providing financial support to construct the new building and requested him for further support in providing ICT infrastructure and other equipment at the new building.
The Vice-Chancellor further said that JMI will try to do its best to implement plans
and programmes of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 which is holistic and multi-disciplinary in nature. NEP will create new opportunities for students in the domain of higher education.
Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal congratulated the Jamia fraternity for the new building. In his address, he said that Jamia in its 100th year is one of the top institutions of the country after facing so many challenges all these years. He gave credit for this success to the teachers of the university.
While appreciating the efforts of the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar and his team in the administration of the university affairs Shri Pokhriyal said that without wasting time Jamia is working on a mission mode and good results are reflection of those efforts. He further said that Jamia will be a centre of hope in future too.
Minister gave assurance to the Vice-Chancellor that it will look into all the help sought by her for further development of the university.
