The state government of Odisha has decided to reduce the school syllabus of students for the academic year 2020-21 amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. The Council of Higher Secondary Education Odisha (CHSE) decided to reduce the syllabus due to the academic pressure on school students amid the global pandemic.
The specifics of the syllabus reduction will be finalised after a meeting is held by the syllabus committee of CHSE Odisha through video conferencing in the upcoming weeks.
A letter by CHSE was addressed to all schools in the states which read,
“Due to COVID-19 pandemic and consequent lockdown, classroom teaching has been adversely affected during the current academic session.”
The meeting which will be held through video conferencing will discuss in detail how the syllabus of each subject is to be reduced for this academic year so that no important parts are missed out and some academic pressure is released for the students.
After the virtual meeting is held by the CHSE and all the changes in the syllabus are made, a final report will be submitted to the chairman of the syllabus committee for review and approval.
