Rs 5k crore for 250 Gurkul schools: Dy CM

Addressing the media at TRS office here, Srihari who also holds Education portfolio, stated that development of any State will be possible only by providing education to all. It was estimated to spend about Rs 20 crore for every Gurukul institution, he said. The State government will spend about Rs 5,000 crore for launching 250 Gurukul institutions across the State.

The State government was committed for implementing KG-to-PG scheme to offer quality education to the poor and those who could not afford. Since Telangana is lagging behind in literacy and education sector, efforts are on to address the problem through Gurukul type of education, he maintained. Srihari extended thanks to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for announcing to launch the scheme and 250 Gurukul institutions to give boost to education sector. These institutions will help SC, ST and Minority categories. As many as 10,000 posts are needed to be filled including 6000 teaching and 4000 non-teaching staff for these institutions to offer qualitative education, Srihari averred.
