SC dismisses plea to postpone August 11 exam of NEET PG 2024

The Supreme Court today dismissed a petition to postpone the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG).

The plea sought the postponement of NEET PG 2024 scheduled to be held on August 11. A three-judge bench led by the Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud was hearing the matter. 

The petitioners in the plea stated that many NEET PG aspirants have been allocated cities that are highly inconvenient for them to reach and therefore wanted the exam to be postponed.

While



dismissing the plea, CJI DY Chandrachud said: “Your argument is postulated on ideal solutions, we are looking at a complex society.”

In addition to deferment of the exam to a later date with revised exam centres, the petitioners also sought disclosure of the normalisation formula of the four sets of question papers to candidates, so that any possibility of arbitrariness in the process is eliminated.

After announcing the NEET PG cities on July 31, the NBEMS released another set of revised city slips on August 4.
