The government of Arunachal Pradesh reopened the schools for students of classes 8, 9, and 11 in the state from yesterday, January 4, after nine months of the closure of schools. The regular classes have been started again adhering to the Covid-19 safety norms.
Though the schools have been reopened for higher classes in Arunachal Pradesh now, officials have confirmed that the residential schools and hostels will remain closed for now. The schools had already been reopened for students of classes 10 and 12 from November 16.
"The parents have extended cooperation by sending their wards to schools and the students, too, are a happy lot to come to school after such a long period," Education Minister Taba Tedir said. He also said that the colleges in Arunachal Pradesh would reopen from January 5.
"We are in constant touch with the health department and if it is found feasible, we may look at resuming other classes,
too," the minister said, as per PTI reports. The students and staff attending school have to follow several Covid-19 safety protocols while attending school.
The education minister of Arunachal Pradesh has also urged students and parents to wear face masks, maintain social distancing and wash hands frequently, and follow other advisories issued by the state government in the wake of the pandemic.
Many school authorities have also said that gathering in common areas in large groups is not permitted on school premises. The seating arrangement of the classrooms also had to be changed to ensure strict social distancing while classes are conducted.
The schools in Arunachal Pradesh have reopened after nearly 10 months and normal classes are being resumed. Before this, the classes were being conducted online for all school and college students, which caused a lot of problems for students lacking access to proper resources.
