Karnataka Education Minister Suryanarayana Suresh Kumar has announced that the schools in the state will be reopening from February 22, 2021, for the students of classes 6 to 8 after being shut down for 11 months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The schools will be reopening after being shut down in March 2020 due to the pandemic. The schools are reopening all across Karnataka, except for the Bengaluru district and Kerala border, where schools will only reopen for students of class 8.

The restrictions for reopening schools have been placed in Bengaluru and border areas in view of the ongoing

Covid-19 situation. The dates for the reopening of junior classes in these areas will be communicated by the state government soon.
As per the guidelines issued by the Karnataka government, students appearing for physical classes at school will be required to present a Covid-19 negative test before entering the school premises for the safety of staff and other students.

The government of Karnataka has issued a list of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the safe reopening of schools in the state. These SOPs need to be followed by the school authorities strictly for the safety of the students and the staff.
