In Kerala, after two academic years disrupted by Covid-19 closures, schools are set to begin a new session on a high note from today. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the State-level Pravesanotsavam, meaning the festival of entry in school, at Government Higher Secondary School, Kazhakkuttam in Thiruvananthapuram, this morning.
Nearly 43 lakh students, one lakh 80 thousand teachers and close to 25 thousand non-teaching staff are expected to reach schools on the reopening day today. Students and teachers have been advised to strictly follow
Covid-19 protocols.
Over one lakh 72 thousand students were vaccinated against Covid-19 in a special three-day vaccination drive held for children last week in the rup upto school reopening. A count of children who have not received vaccination within two weeks of reopening would be taken.
Telecast of classes on Government -run KITE Victers channel would continue in the new academic year. The Samagra online learning portal would be modified for use in schools in the new session.
