In view of extreme cold wave, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to close all schools up to the class 12th, for today and tomorrow.
The schools have also been directed to reschedule practical board examinations that were to be held on both the days.
The state is reeling under cold wave conditions. For the last two consecutive days, the maximum temperature has been hovering around 12 degrees Celsius.
In Lucknow,
Gorakhpur, Banda, Orai, Kheeri and Hamirpur, the day temperature recorded was 11 degrees below normal, forcing people to remain indoors. Dense fog has disrupted rail and road traffic, and several trains are running behind schedule.
According to the Meteorological Department, dense fog is very likely in isolated pockets over the western part of the state in the morning hours, and the cold wave will continue in the eastern part.
