Schools across Telangana re-opened for the academic year 2019-20 on Wednesday after a prolonged summer vacation. The schools were earlier scheduled to reopen on June 1 but were forced to extend the vacation due to the heat conditions in the State.
The School Education department has re-scheduled the academic calendar accordingly and allotted 232 working days with the last working day on April 23, 2020. In the next academic year I.e. 2020-21, the schools will
commence from June 12, after summer holidays from April 24 to June 11.
This year, schools will have a 16-day break for Dasara festival starting September 28 to October 13. Last year, 13 days were allotted for short term holidays for Dasara festival.
The vacation for Sankranti festival will be from January 11, 2020 to January 16 which translate to six days as against seven days last academic year.
