The Ministry of Education is all set to launch the 7th edition of the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) on December 11, 2024. This year’s hackathon finale, the seventh edition, will take place across 51 centres, with over 1,300 student teams from across India competing to solve real-world problems.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will engage with young innovators during the grand finale of Smart India Hackathon 2024 via videoconferencing on Wednesday at 4:30 pm, according to his office.
The SIH, a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Education, provides students with a platform to develop innovative solutions to challenges they face in daily life. It bridges the gap between
academic knowledge and practical application, encouraging a culture of innovation and problem-solving.
Since its inception, SIH has grown into a key event for engineering and tech students, pushing them to think outside the box while collaborating with industry experts and government agencies.
This year, a record-breaking 250+ problem statements have been submitted by 54 ministries, state governments, PSUs, and industries. Participation at the institute level saw a 150% increase.
Over 86,000 teams participated in the institute-level competition, with around 49,000 teams advancing to the national round, making this the largest hackathon edition so far.
