Supreme Court will likely hear the plea on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET PG) postponement tomorrow, February 24. Aspirants want NEET PG 2023 exam to be postponed by two to three months owing to the huge gap from exam date to counselling. NEET PG 2023 is scheduled to be held on March 5.
The Telangana High Court has earlier dismissed a plea to postpone the postgraduate medical entrance exam. It has asked the National Medical Commission (NMC) to reconsider the exam date and aspirants filed a separate petition in the Supreme
Court.
However, the union minister of health and family welfare (MoHFW) Mansukh Mandaviya earlier in February told the Lok Sabha that NEET PG 2023 will not be postponed as deferring it would further delay the exam and counselling process caused due to Covid-19.
The union health ministry has extended the MBBS internship cut-off date to August 11 for NEET PG 2023. The National Board of Examinations for Medical Sciences (NBSEMS) has extended the mandatory internship cut-off date twice. First, it was extended from March 31 to June 30, 2023.
