Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami is extremely confident that the state Governor Banwarilal Purohit will soon be approving the bill which will provide a 7.5 percent reservation in medical colleges to students from government schools who have cleared the NEET examination.
DMK leader MK Stalin was also slammed by the chief minister for writing to the state governor on the matter. The state CM felt that Stalin was trying to create an “illusion” that he was responsible for possible approval by Purohit on the
matter.
The Tamil Nadu Assembly had on September 15 unanimously passed a bill to provide a 7.5 percent horizontal quota in medical admissions for state government school students who clear the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and the state governor is yet to give his approval to this bill.
While issuing a statement on Friday, Palaniswami had said, "I am very confident that the governor will give his approval to the bill soon, realising it will pave the way for ensuring equal justice to the poor students.”
