The Deputy Chief Minister, Kadiam Srihari, announced on Tuesday that the government would appoint 11,428 Vidya volunteers and 8,792 teachers this academic year.
Addressing a news conference, he said the services of Vidya volunteers would be drafted ahead of the notification to be issued by the Telangana State Public Service Commission for recruitment of teachers to fill the existing vacancies in various schools across the State.
The remuneration of the Vidya volunteers would also be enhanced from Rs 8,000 to Rs 12,000 per month. Chief Minister K

The Deputy Chief Minister also announced that the vacancies in the 11 universities in the State would also be filled on priority. A total of 1,551 posts had been lying vacant in the universities and 1,061 of them would be filled in the first phase. The Centre has been requested to set up the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) in the 110 mandal headquarters that were created as part of the re-organisation of the revenue administration units in the State.
