the State health authorities will start the process of recruiting 4,583 posts of various cadres in hospitals falling under Telangana Vaidya Vidhan Parishad (TVVP).
The decision is seen by many as a big step in decentralising healthcare in State-run hospitals, which has been traditionally centred around Hyderabad. In the next few days, the health authorities are set to issue orders paving the way to fill the posts in all the secondary healthcare centres under the parishad.
There are 153 hospitals that fall under TVVP including six district hospitals, 31 area hospitals, 12 mother and child health (MCH) centres and 104 community health centres (CHCs), where vacant posts will be filled.
“The idea is to
strengthen secondary hospitals so that the pressure of patient inflow in tertiary hospitals, especially in Hyderabad and district headquarters, is reduced. Moreover, after KCR Kits, there has been an increase in the inflow of pregnant women and there is a need to recruit in TVVP,” says Health Minister Dr C Laxma Reddy.
Under the TVVP, there are close to 10,000 beds in various hospitals, which is more than 60 per cent of the entire bed strength of government hospitals.More than 70 per cent of the overall deliveries i.e., one lakh deliveries, take place in health centres that fall under TVVP.
The recruitment is planned in such a way that the numbers will be enough to scale up medical services in the near future.
