The Election Commission (EC) has finally given a nod for conducting Telangana State Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) in the State.
As the poll code is in effect due to elections to MLC seats of Local Authorities Constituencies, the EC sought details from the government as to how TET could be conducted.
The Directorate of School Education (DSE) had apprised that conducting examination would neither impact nor benefit people in any away. After going through the details provided by the directorate, the EC has finally given a green signal for the conduct of examination.
The directorate had already announced that TET would be conducted on January 24. But due to delay, fresh schedule would be issued soon.
According to a senior official, the examination would be held in the month of April.
“If the examination is held in March, teachers in the private schools will not be able to attend schools. This may hamper conduct of SSC examination. As a result, we are planning to conduct the test in April second week,” official said. Already several teachers in the private schools are avoiding classes to prepare for the TET.
On the other hand, the EC has also granted permission for issuing notification for calling applications for the posts of vice-chancellors in the State universities. The Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) would issue notification in a couple days in this regard.
