The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) may be extended to all levels of the School Education i.e., from preparatory to Class XII.

Currently, the TET is being conducted in two papers – paper-I and II and candidates who wish to be teachers for Classes I to V have to appear for paper-I, while those for classes VI-VIII have to take paper-II. Candidates who intend to be teachers for all classes (I-VIII) should appear for both papers.

“The NEP 2020 enacts numerous changes in India’s teacher education sector. The Committee was asked to

study implementation of the TET guidelines issued by the NCTE, candidate wise, question wise data for psychometric analysis, problems being faced in holding TET by the State governments/UTs and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

Accordingly, the NCTE has sought information and statistics related to the TET conducted by the State governments and CBSE by February 15. Details that were sought include conduct of TET, a copy of question paper (paper-I and II) for last three TETs, profile of question paper setter and examiners, method of conducting TET/evaluation (CBT/OMR/other), number of candidates in the academic year (appeared and passed), total number of BEd, DElEd, and MEd candidates appeared and passed.
